Refills
Start with your pharmacy and plan ahead.
Routine refills
- • Routine refills should be requested through your pharmacy first
- • Please allow up to 72 business hours for routine refill review
- • Plan ahead before weekends, holidays, and travel
Refills and follow-up
- • Refills are usually provided to last until the next recommended visit
- • If you are nearing the end of your medication, follow-up is often due
- • Medication management is often best handled during an appointment
Controlled medications
- • Controlled medications generally require follow-up visits at least every 3 months
- • Please do not wait until the last minute to request follow-up
Schedule instead if:
- • Your medication is not working well
- • You are having side effects
- • You think a change may be needed
- • You are overdue for follow-up
- • The issue is more than a simple refill
Questions between visits
- • Some medication questions can be addressed between visits
- • Many medication concerns are still better handled in an appointment
- • Messaging should not be used for urgent needs or last-minute refill requests
If you are unsure, scheduling a visit is often the most reliable next step.
